• I have nothing against work, it fills the idle time.

It pays the bills and allows us our little luxuries. Like you, I work to earn, to get money, to spend money. The problem is, the more you make, the more you want to make, the more you spend, the more you need to make more, the more you spend, the more need to make. Soon, the cycle begins to consume us, and we fall into the George Bernard Shaw trap:

You are going to let the fear of poverty govern your life,

and your reward will be that you will eat, but you will not live.

    George Bernard Shaw

We must live, as well as work. A little time each week needs to be set aside, to refuel, to relax. What is the point of all the money, if you don’t enjoy life, at least a little bit? We become Scrooge and Marley.

Why not set aside Friday night for fun? The best revenge is living well. Set aside Friday night to live well, for a little revenge for all those moments during the week that your life a living hell. Friday Night Revenge!

I think this calls for a drink.

    James Thurber

A cocktail, an appetizer, a glass of bubbly, some music.

But, who wants to think on Friday night? And what drink, what appetizer, what bubbly, what music? No one knows. All the cook books are written by boring hausfrau types. There is no good reference book for the two-thousand mile an hour crowd who need a little help on Friday night.

So, this little book was born and nurtured. It was time-consuming, a couple of years of research and thinking and trying. I volunteered my money and my time, so that you could live the good life. I sacrificed one night per week to the cause. And, I expect, a part of my liver. All for the good of others.
